Scopri i risultati del metodo di degustazione del tè in 4 fasi di Nio Teas

To evaluate the flavor of the Isagawa Sencha Loose Leaf Tea we look for a combination of the aroma and also how the tea interacts with the palate. Does it produce a dryness, acidity, minerality, sweetness or umami? We’ll also evaluate the texture of the tea, otherwise known as mouthfeel. Finally, for sencha tea, we’ll evaluate it based on how vegetal the taste profile is as this is a common characteristic throughout most sencha teas.

Passaggio 1: osservare l'aspetto

This is a japanese sencha green tea loose leaf and the leaves are on the lighter side, as the tea is unshaded and they are rolled into tight needle shapes with some smaller leaf particles.

Passaggio 2: valutazione dell'aroma

The aroma coming off the sencha green tea loose leaf leaves is light and citrusy, with a tiny hint of these marine or steamed spinach notes.

Passaggio 3: degustazione del tè

TheIsagawa sencha loose leaf tea begins with a shy minerality and then begins to plunge deep into a citrusy flavor profile with notes of lemon peel. The tea finishes off with a dry, late summer grass or hay note and leaves the palate cool and refreshed.

Passaggio 4 - Valutazione della sensazione al palato

The Isagawa sencha loose leaf tea benefits from a strong physicality, with a tingling minerality present throughout. The mouthfeel is very thin, with a mouthwatering acidity. There is a small, almost imperceptible sweetness that begins to peek, but is later overtaken by the slightly dry finish.

Servizio da tè necessario

To brew up a delicious cup of this Isagawa sencha loose leaf tea, you’ll need a kyusu teapot. The ideal teapot for this is the Fukamushi teapot, as this teapot has a circular mesh filter that makes it easier to sift out the tea leaves as you pour.

Alternative without teaware

If you don’t have a teapot at home, we recommend using a tea strainer for the Isagawa sencha loose leaf tea. This will separate the tea leaves as you pour and stop the infusion so the tea doesn’t overbrew.

osada tea farm in japan

Luogo di produzione e coltivatore

Informazioni sull'azienda agricola

For generations, the Osada family has been cultivating tea in Shizuoka. They have turned their small, family-run tea farm into a medium-sized enterprise that provides employment to numerous people in the area.

Despite increasing their tea production, they remain devoted to maintaining quality. To accomplish this, they collaborate with small producers situated in the mountains. This allows them to merge the meticulousness of a small tea field with the expertise and resources of a larger operation. To enhance quality even further, they have relocated their production facility to the mountains, nearer to the origin of their tea.

Proveniente da Isagawa

Isagawa sencha loose leaf tea is created in the organic village of Isagawa, a collective of tea farmers committed to cultivating their tea without harmful pesticides or chemicals.

In tea cultivation, it’s not only about making sure your tea fields are free of pesticides, you also need to guarantee the surrounding land is also free from chemicals. This is why it’s so important for the Isagawa farmers to collaborate and ensure that all their tea fields adhere to organic standards.

Cultivar e varietà di pianta del tè

The Isagawa sencha loose leaf tea is made from the Yabukita cultivar, the most common type of tea plant used in Japan.

  • Yabukita

The Yabukita is a tougher cultivar, so it is easier to grow in the rocky mountain soils of Shizuoka. This tea produces more of these vegetal flavors, which really go well with the strong minerality of the Isagawa sencha loose leaf tea.
