Scopri tutti i segreti di Wazuka Matcha Seisui

The wazuka matcha seisui is a yabukita matcha produced by the Nakai family in Wazuka. It has a nice smooth flavor with a hint of grassy or vegetable notes.

Scopri i risultati del metodo di degustazione del tè in 4 fasi di Nio Teas

To evaluate the Wazuka Matcha Seisui, we evaluated the texture of the matcha as well as the flavor. Does it produce a dryness, sweetness, minerality or acidity? We’ll also evaluate how thick or rich the consistency of the matcha is, otherwise known as mouthfeel. Finally, for matcha specifically, we like to take a look at the vegetal flavor of the tea, as this is a profile consistent across all types of matcha.

Passaggio 1: osservare l'aspetto

The color of the Wazuka Matcha Seisui is a light pale green and the matcha is finely ground into a smooth powder

Passaggio 2: valutazione dell'aroma

The aroma coming off the powder as it is mixed into the water is sweet and vegetal, with notes of artichoke

Passaggio 3: degustazione del tè

The initial taste of the Wazuka Matcha Seisui begins to invigorate the sides of the tongue with this slightly citrusy acidity. The body of the tea is rich and smooth with a hint of artichoke and spinach. The tea ends with a clean, slightly dry finish with a hint of minerality that lingers on the palate

Passaggio 4 - Valutazione della sensazione al palato

This matcha is punctuated by its acidity and strong vegetal characteristics. Overall, the structure of the tea is smooth, but it has some brighter and fresher characteristics that make it interesting. There is an acidity in the mid palate but a dryness in the finish.

100% coltivato biologicamente e di provenienza etica

At Nio, we like to support tea farmers who practice organic farming techniques and abstain from using pesticides or chemicals. We are convinced these more natural farming methods not only enhance the flavor of the tea but also contribute to the long-term well-being and sustainability of the tea plantations.

In our experience, tea farms that follow these organic farming principles not only cultivate healthy tea plants but also promote a flourishing ecosystem that accommodates a wide variety of flora and fauna.

JAS Japanese Agriculture Standards logo

Certificato JAS

The JAS logo you see on our Wazuka Matcha Seisui, as well as many of our other teas, represents Japanese Agriculture Standards. This mark assures consumers that the products were cultivated without the use of pesticides or chemicals.

At Nio, we give priority to tea plantations that are entirely free of pesticides or chemicals during our selection process. When collaborating with larger tea farmers, we require they provide the JAS label, which they can obtain by undergoing soil sampling and testing.

When partnering with smaller tea farmers who may not have the resources for soil testing, we also accept the "pesticide-free" designation. This is in order to provide opportunities to smaller farmers, while still maintaining our commitment to quality and sustainability.

Servizio da tè necessario

In order to prepare a delicious cup of matcha tea, you'll need the following accessories:

  1. A matcha bowl, also known as a chawan, which is a shallow and wide bowl made of either ceramic or porcelain. It is specifically designed to help whisk the matcha powder evenly and create a smooth and frothy texture.
  2. A matcha whisk, also called a chasen, which is made of bamboo and has numerous thin tines. This tool is used to mix and froth the matcha powder with hot water, ensuring a consistent and flavorful cup of tea.
  3. A matcha scoop, or chashaku, which is a bamboo utensil that helps measure out the right amount of matcha powder and transfer it to the matcha bowl. This ensures that the tea is well-balanced and not too bitter.
  4. A sifter, which is recommended for both traditional Japanese tea ceremonies and everyday use. Sifting the matcha powder helps remove any clumps and ensures that the tea has a smooth and silky texture.

Proveniente da Kyoto

The Wazuka Matcha Seisui comes from a region outside of Kyoto that has a rich history of tea cultivation. This area is known as the birthplace of Japanese green tea, with the first tea plants being planted nearby in 1192. Even today, it remains one of the most renowned areas for growing Japanese green tea.

Matcha is a particular specialty of the region. After tasting hundreds of matcha teas from across Japan, it's clear that Kyoto and Uji are the foremost regions for this prized tea. Matcha cultivation has flourished in this area for over 400 years, and shows no signs of slowing down!

Cultivar e varietà di pianta del tè

The Wazuka Matcha Seisui is made using the Yabukita cultivar, the most popular tea variety in Japan. This cultivar is known for having a little bit of everything in terms of flavor and it is easier to grow.

  • Yabukita

The Yabukita cultivar works well in matcha teas because it provides that strong steamed vegetable flavor. It also provides a lot of umami, making this matcha a real treat for true matcha fans.
